Allix Powers the Technological Production of "Aion Art Project": Virtual Reality Meets Artistic Performance

Allix delivers the hardware and software architecture and integration for artist Arianna Carossa's groundbreaking VR installation, which transforms breath and voice into digital matter and acoustic environments.

Technology, Embodied Perception, and Contemporary Art

Allix continues to push the boundaries of innovation as the technological and production partner for Aion Art Project, an immersive Virtual Reality installation and performative system conceived by international artist Arianna Carossa, in collaboration with architect and researcher Pasquale Larosa and gameplay programmer Louis Muller.

With this project, Allix reaffirms its commitment to exploring advanced technological frontiers, integrating sensor systems, real-time data processing, and virtual reality within a complex architecture that connects virtual environments to physical space.

How Aion Art Project Works: Between Abstraction and Embodiment

Unlike traditional VR applications focused on entertainment or visual narrative, Aion Art Project employs virtual reality as a transitional perceptual device. The artwork draws inspiration from the classical myths of Sisyphus and Echo, reinterpreted as operational models of physical exertion, repetition, and the dissolution of identity.

The installation is structured across two interconnected environments:

Blow Game (The Myth of Sisyphus): Wearing a VR headset, the participant stands in a vast, rocky desert before a massive stone. The sole means of interaction is breath: by exhaling into an integrated sensor/microphone, the user moves the boulder forward just a few centimeters at a time. Each breath is captured in real time by the Allix system and transmitted into a second physical space, where the recorded breaths of all participants layer together to form a collective acoustic "respiratory organism."

Echo Game (The Myth of Echo): Inside a virtual labyrinth, the participant's movement is driven entirely by saying their own name. The continuous vocal repetition, processed and tracked by the system, gradually strips the name of its semantic meaning, turning it into pure rhythm and sound. This audio is broadcast live as an autonomous acoustic trace in the adjacent exhibition space.

Allix's Role: R&D, Sensor Systems, and Real-Time Data Processing

Bringing Aion Art Project to life required meticulous engineering of the entire data pipeline and hardware-software interaction:

Embodied Interaction & Sensors: High-precision capture of physiological and acoustic data (respiratory rhythm/intensity, vocal inputs) and their immediate translation into movement controls within the virtual environment.

Spatial Synchronization & Audio Streaming: Real-time data management connecting individual VR experiences to multichannel sound diffusion in the physical installation room.

System Architecture: Seamless integration between the 3D graphics engine (Unreal Engine), hardware sensors, and network infrastructure to deliver a smooth, latency-free experience.

Allix's Commitment to Interdisciplinary Innovation

For over twenty-five years, Allix has been developing pioneering solutions spanning IoT, remote monitoring, wireless tech, and cloud computing. Participating in an internationally acclaimed artistic research project like Aion Art Project demonstrates how Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) can unlock new possibilities not only in industrial settings and smart cities, but also in cultural engagement and experiential communication.

"Translating complex concepts such as physical exertion and human breath into digital parameters and real-time acoustic environments was a fascinating challenge. This project showcases the flexibility and potential of our tech architecture in bridging hardware, software, and human perception within highly innovative contexts."
Ivan Allevi, CEO of Allix

Allix: Shaping Lombardy’s Digital Future for 25 Years

2001 – 2026: A quarter-century dedicated to innovation. From the first Web architectures to Artificial Intelligence
Reaching the 25-year milestone in the software world means having journeyed through several "geological eras" of technology. Founded in 2001, Allix today celebrates a milestone that goes beyond a simple corporate anniversary: it is the story of a constant evolution that has seen our company transform from a web pioneer into a leader in the development of solutions based on Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things.

A Journey Through Technological Eras
Retracing our history means taking a close look at how the way we live and work has changed:
The Origins (2001–2005): We were born in the heart of the "New Economy," designing the infrastructure for the first major national sports portals and official websites for top-tier football clubs. This was our training ground for learning how to manage massive volumes of traffic and data.
The Evolution Toward Mobility (2005–2010): We early recognized the potential of geolocation, creating the first platforms for waste tracking and fleet management for major Lombard utilities, such as the TEA Group.
The IoT Revolution and Smart Lighting (2010–2020): Thanks to a strategic partnership with industry leaders like TCI S.r.l., we brought intelligence to physical objects. We developed remote control systems for public lighting that today make our cities more sustainable and efficient.
The AI Frontier (Today): Today, our focus is Artificial Intelligence. From "electronic noses" for digital sensory analysis to the latest generation of conversational agents, we continue to provide "intelligence" to the industrial fabric.

Rooted in the Territory, Projected Toward the Future
Our bond with Lombardy has been the common thread of these 25 years. Our growth is the result of deep collaborations with local centers of excellence and a constant commitment to Research and Development. Projects such as NOVA and LUMA have demonstrated how Allix is a vital node in an ecosystem that unites SMEs, large industrial groups, and research organizations.
This very synergy led to the recent evolution of our corporate structure, with TCI S.r.l. acquiring a 20% stake—confirming the solidity of our path and our shared vision for the Smart Cities of the future.

The "Virtual Museum": Our Digital Legacy
To celebrate this 25th anniversary, we decided not only to look back but to open our (virtual) doors to the next generations. This led to the Allix Virtual Museum project: an immersive Virtual Reality experience that allows visitors to explore 25 years of code and innovation.
This is not just a celebration of the past; it is an educational tool. Through virtual tours and dedicated student workshops, we aim to inspire the talents of tomorrow, showing how a passion for software can transform into concrete solutions for society and the environment.

Toward the Next 25 Years
We look to the future with the same curiosity we had in 2001, but with the confidence of those who have built a solid foundation. Our thanks go to all the partners, collaborators, and clients who have shared this incredible journey with us.
The best is yet to come.

Allix: at the forefront of innovation. The visit of Councilor Fermi to the NOVA project

Lombardy innovating
Last Friday, our Saronno headquarters had the pleasure of welcoming Alessandro Fermi, Regional Councilor for University, Research and Innovation of the Lombardy Region, as part of his tour dedicated to the region's centers of excellence.
The visit was a moment of great pride for our team, offering us the opportunity to showcase the results achieved with the NOVA project (Nuovi Orizzonti per la Valorizzazione Artistica - New Horizons for Artistic Valorization).

The NOVA project: Technology at the service of culture
NOVA is not a simple 3D reconstruction; it is an ecosystem of dynamic Digital Twins. Thanks to the integration of IoT sensors, real-time cameras, and artificial intelligence, we have transformed the concept of cultural engagement:
Immersive experience: Historical sites become interactive and "alive."
Intelligent management: We monitor tourist flows in real-time to prevent overcrowding.
Advanced interaction: We engage with visitors through AI assistants and gamification logic, bringing our artistic heritage closer to younger generations.
This achievement was made possible thanks to the invaluable collaboration with our project partners, with whom we share a common vision and expertise: VLab, InnovaTech, and ICRF Research Body.

The support of the Lombardy Region
The NOVA project was realized thanks to the "Collabora & Innova" (Collaborate & Innovate) call for proposals from the Lombardy Region, which allocated 156 million euros to foster technology transfer. This funding has been a fundamental strategic lever, allowing us to accelerate the development of solutions capable of making a concrete impact on the digitalization of the region.
On the same day, Councilor Fermi visited two other Lombardy centers of excellence that, like us, benefited from regional grants: Fibertech in Marnate (a project on the circular economy of carbon fiber) and Opella in Origgio (research on the microbiota and digestive health).
We are proud to be part of a Lombardy entrepreneurial ecosystem that, thanks to the support of the Lombardy Region, continues to transform innovation into tangible solutions for sustainability and the quality of life of its citizens.
The Allix team now looks forward with enthusiasm to the next steps of NOVA, continuing to invest in IoT and AI solutions that redefine the frontiers of what is possible.

Allix and Italian Renaissance

Allix’s Artificial Intelligence Brings the Italian Renaissance to the USA: Project NOVA Presented in New York

New York, January 14, 2026 – Within the prestigious setting of the Columbus Citizens Foundation in New York, Project NOVA was officially presented. This initiative is a winner of the Lombardy Region's "Collabora e Innova" call (co-funded by the European Union under the PR FESR 2021-2027 – Action 1.1.1).
Allix, as the lead company, together with partners Timelabs, Innovatech, and the CFR Research Organization, unveiled a frontier solution to the international public that merges Artificial Intelligence with the enhancement of cultural heritage.

Project NOVA: The Renaissance Goes Digital
The core of the project is the preservation and universal accessibility of a work of inestimable value: the 16th-century wooden sculptural group by Giovanni Da Nola, depicting the Annunciation. This extremely fragile masterpiece is kept in a National Museum in Italy and is difficult to transport. Thanks to the technology developed by the NOVA partnership, this physical barrier has been overcome.

A Tour of the United States: From San Francisco to New York

In the coming weeks, Italian technological and artistic excellence will be the protagonist of two exhibitions in the United States:
San Francisco: At the Italian Cultural Institute, from next Monday until January 30.
New York: At the Italian Cultural Institute, from February 1 to February 14.

The Immersive Experience: VR, AR, and Artificial Intelligence
The exhibition is not a simple display but a multi-sensory narrative of the sculptural group's journey: from the dramatic moment of its discovery to the delicate restoration phase and its restored beauty.
The integration of advanced technologies allows for unprecedented interaction:
1. Virtual Reality (VR): A dedicated station allows visitors to "immerse" themselves in the original church where the statues were once located (rendered inaccessible by the 1980 Irpinia earthquake) and travel virtually to their current place of preservation.
2. Augmented Reality (AR): Digital overlays show details invisible to the naked eye, revealing discoveries that came to light during the restoration.
3. Artificial Intelligence (AI): Visitors can directly query the historical and artistic context. The AI answers questions about the artist (Giovanni Da Nola), the restoration techniques used, and the socio-cultural context of the era, making the work "speak" and accessible at various levels of depth.

Statement from Allix CEO, Ivan Allevi
"With NOVA, we have demonstrated that Artificial Intelligence is not just a tool for industrial productivity, but a tool for the dissemination of culture," stated Ivan Allevi, CEO of Allix. "Bringing Da Nola’s Annunciation to the USA through digital means means protecting the original while simultaneously allowing the world to know and appreciate it." He concluded, "Finally, a thank you to the Lombardy Region for making this ambitious project possible."

Allix srl, founded in 2001 by the union of the efforts of a team of consultants (Project Manager, Business Analyst, Team Leader and Programmer) as a center for experimentation and development of the latest computer technology, has designed and developed pioneering products by implementing the modern wireless technologies and remote management, together with proprietary systems. Allix, thanks to the know-how acquired over the years, has become a partner for Southern Europe NXP (one of the top 10 multinational electronics worldwide), as well as being in possession of Microsoft and Apple certifications. The hardware devices implemented by the suite of software products are designed and manufactured directly from Allix.

Projects And Awards

>> ENSC - Allix has won twice, for Italy, the award ESNC (European Satellite Navigation Competition), a worldwide competition promoted by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs;
>> Project S.I.T.T. - monitoring platform and management of cross-border waste transport, developed in collaboration with Regione Lombardia;
>> ZDlight STREET - Allix S.r.l., in collaboration with TCI Saronno has developed a Remote Monitoring System can remotely manage installations of public and private lighting;
>> IoT - Using Allix's innovative ZDcloud cloud computing platform, it is possible to remotely monitor, control and manage "smart objects", commonly used objects integrated with wireless electronic devices called ZDplug-in. In this way it is possible, on the part of the user or through an operations center, to monitor, control and manage in real time the "life" of these objects. Not only that, but the ZDplug-in are also able to "self-manage" by making the objects communicate with each other, assisted by various custom sensors. Control and management of public and private lighting (home automation), control and management of objects and tools commonly used in the kitchen are just some of the countless examples of the immense potential offered by IoT by Allix.

Productivity Sustainable

Allix, in collaboration with its partners, has developed a system that provides real-time information for the management, control and optimization of business productivity. With this innovative technological solution it is possible to calculate the value of the relationship between production and energy consumption of a specific industrial site. In this way, the company is able to improve the energy efficiency according to its levels of production, or save without affecting the productive capacity.
